The town/pueblo of Íllora is less than a 10 minute drive from our accessible holiday villas; the town has many amenities including bars, cafés, supermarkets, banks and of course a weekly market.
The pueblo of Íllora is included in two of the routes of the "Legado Andalusí"; - the Route of Washington Irving and Route of Califat. The pueblo's castle, though now in a ruinous condition, dates back to the Califat period and dominates the Íllora horizon as it nestles upon the giant outcrop of rocks in the centre of Íllora.
Due the strategic location and the fortification of the pueblo, Íllora has, ever since Muslim times been referred to the "Right Eye of Granada".
During the last week of July the pueblo of Íllora holds the annual Parapanda Folk Music Festival, whilst during the second week of August the pueblo celebrates the annual fiesta.
